Pink Dip Dyed Hair

I just dip dyed my hair pink at home. Here is how it turned out:

Here is a before photo:

I changed shirts for the after photo so you can see the color better. I did the dip dye using Black Cherry flavored kool aid. I've done my hair plenty of times with kool aid and I think pink is my favorite one. The last time I dyed my hair with Black Cherry kool aid, it didn't turn out so well because I used foil and conditioner. This time I used the dip dye method and the color turned out much more noticeable.

I've also dyed my hair blue, orange, yellow, purple, etc. all using kool aid. Those photos are on this blog as well. Since I've done this so many times, I've explained how to dip dye your hair and also how to get the dip dye out of your hair. You can find out how to do that by clicking the links below. Remember to always strand test your hair first before dying a lot of your hair. Some people have a harder time than others getting the color to come out.

I really like this color. I hope it doesn't fade too quickly. I'm still wondering how to get a more hot pink or baby pink hair color though. Any thoughts? I picked up some Strawberry Lemonade kool aid which I will use at some point. I'm just experimenting until I figure it out. I'm also interested in finding out how to get a deeper blue color.

  1. Pretty hair color. I dip dyed my hair with the black cherry kool-aid as well, and it worked pretty good. But I need to re-do it because the first time it didn't get as a rich color I wanted. I really want mine to turn out like Ariana Grande's

    1. She's so pretty and I love her hair. It looks really good on her because of her dark roots. I'm not sure how to make it deeper red like hers, but black cherry would be the color to use. Maybe mixing black cherry and another red. I haven't tried regular cherry yet, so it may work too.

    1. I haven't found a way to get like a really hot pink with koolaid yet. I do have some ideas (to make it look more pink), but I still have to try those out and see if they work. How dark is your hair? If your hair is too dark, you have two choices. You can either do hair chalk or try lightening your hair. Over at The Long Hair Community plenty of members have successfully lightened their hair at home with honey. It seems to be the safe way to go. If you want a brighter more pink color, you may need to use manic panic or special effects hair dye. Or, like I said, just try hair chalk.

I'm trying to get some articles here about hair chalk showing the different results but I haven't gotten a hold of any yet because everywhere seems to be sold out right now.

    1. For me, about a week and a half. I wash my hair every day. It fades significantly after the first wash. It might be different for different people. I'm not sure.
